Behind the Scenes
Gunstock Blank Operations
A glimpse into the making of our walnut gunstock blanks — from raw log to finished blank, all on-site in Fleming County, Kentucky.
8 Million+
Gunstocks produced since Fox Valley Wood Products started
Since 1981, every blank has been manufactured right here on our property. That number — over eight million gunstocks — represents 45 years of consistent, on-site craftsmanship.

The Operation in Photos
These are the real people, equipment, and timber that make Fox Valley Wood what it is.
The mill shed — where raw walnut logs arrive and finished lumber stacks up before kiln drying.

The Process
From Log to Blank
Log Buying & Yard
We buy standing timber and logs of all species and grade — from pallet to veneer — with an emphasis on walnut. Logs are staged in our yard before milling begins.
Sawmill & Rough Milling
Walnut logs are run through our on-site sawmill. Our experienced team cuts each blank to maximize figure and minimize waste, producing rough blanks ready for drying.
Kiln Drying On-Site
Every blank is kiln dried right here on our property. Proper moisture content is critical — it determines how stable and workable the finished gun stock will be.
Grading: Straight & Fancy
Dried blanks are graded by grain pattern and figure. Straight grain blanks go to functional builds; fancy blanks with dramatic figure go to collectors and showpiece rifles.
